How has second hand smoke affected people born during the period of baby boom? The smokers that are currently suffering from tobacco related illnesses are those heavy smokers who always refused to quit the habit. There are also some people in their late seventies who smoked very moderately but never showed any signs of tobacco related diseases. Heart disease which is believed to be a smoking related disease can also develop due to bad eating patterns, genetics, and stress. It would not be logical to say that baby boomers that had some kind of heart problems developed the disease due to constant exposure to second hand smoke in the early years in their life.  Obviously, if they happened to smoke without any break, then one could say that their disease was probably caused or aggravated due to this dangerous habit.
